Gurukul: A Science Of Living Institution.

Gurukul is an Institution focused on teaching Yoga – The Science of Living, the old fashioned way. Our focus is on creating Friends of Yoga (Yoga-Mitra) (from toddlers to seniors) bringing them Harmony, Health, and Happiness.

What is Yoga?

The word Yoga essentially means union and is derived from the Sanskrut word "yuj," or to yoke, referring to the union of the body and the mind. Yoga was developed in India an estimated 5,000 years ago as a philosophy and practice for achieving a balanced state of body, mind, and spirit, leading to optimal functioning or thriving.

It can show us a path towards bringing harmony and peace within ourselves through various simple, yet effective techniques. If an individual is at peace with himself or herself, he or she can propagate that peace within the family first, then the larger family, the society, and eventually, the entire world. In recent years, Yoga has been steadily gaining popularity as a means to get and stay fit and healthy and achieve more balance and harmony in an often-busy world.

Practice, Practice and Practice!

The only way to really know that the sugar is sweet is to taste it! Reading and talking about it does not help there! Similarly, reading or talking about Yoga has to culminate into practicing Yoga. Only then real, ever- lasting harmony, health and happiness can be experienced.

A typical Yoga practice consists of:

  • Postures (Asanas)
  • Conscious regulation of breathing (Praanaayaama)
  • Conscious Relaxation (Yoga-Nidra)
  • Meditation (Dhyana)

Consistent Yoga Practice supplemented with moderate and wholesome diet brings strength and flexibility, resistance to disease and peace of mind.
